Traceability

The supply chain of producing garments is fragmented and complex. The ”made in” label only account for the country where the majority of the production was made. This label does not consider the multiple sub-suppliers (like where the raw material comes from, where the fabric and dying process were made and where trims are assembled). Our ambition is to map out all of our suppliers to better understand and account for our environmental impact.

To report and map out our tracability, we’ve divided the production supply chain into 4 different tiers.

Tier 1 is typically the origin that ends up on the “made in” label and represents the suppliers and sub-suppliers that assembles the garments. Tier 2 represents the fabric suppliers, where the fibers are made into fabric, where it’s dyed and printed. Tier 3 includes the suppliers that provide components to the fabric and garment (such as thread, zippers and buttons). Tier 4 is the origin of the actual raw material, like the farms and ranches for wool and cotton and the collectors of recycled material, such as PET bottles.

From 2022, we have increased the traceability in Tier 3 from 40% to 72% and in Tier 4 were at 4%. The chart below displays the current breakdown in the Tiers respectively.

TIER 1
Garment makers & subcontractors - 100%

TIER 2
Fabric suppliers (dyers & printers, finishers, weavers, knitters) - 100%

TIER 3
Fibers, yarn, trims, thread, spinners, recycled material processor - 72%

TIER 4
Raw material (Farm, Forest, Ranch, recycled material collector) - 4%
